Thank you for the wonderful loon pictures. They are so beautiful!!! It is soooo exciting.

Several of us watched on Thursday, July 8 through our spotting scopes and first saw the chick in the afternoon. By evening, one of the parents was nudging the chick to leave the platform and enter the water but it just wasn't ready. It approached the edge of the platform and peered into the water but did not take the plunge. It rested comfortably under the wing of the nesting parent until dark. When we resumed our surveillance Friday at the crack of dawn, it was swimming confidently around the platform and occasionally getting up onto the back of the non-nesting parent. What a gift to have one of these treasures among us!

Does anyone know if any predators have taken the abandoned egg yet?

Between the long-awaited arrival of Baby Loon and the gorgeous sunset (and pond reflections) yesterday evening (Sat, 7/10) - is there any place more humbling or special than Clemons Pond? Last evening, the sunset colors drew me, awe-struck, to the water. Standing on the dock, I waved to neighbors in a canoe, watched the fog dance along tree tops, soaked up some soft country western music from across the pond as smoke from a camp fire meandered low across the water. A remarkable and memorable snapshot of Clemons Pond that I'll never forget. Rich and I never take for granted how lucky we are to have found this amazing place.

Well........ we have a loon chick on Clemons Pond. Harold got video footage today of the baby as well as Mum and Dad. I think this is the first loon chick since we have lived here! This is too cool.

A long time ago there was history about the cornelle Clemons and his wife and children. I can't find it on line anymore. Is there anyway I could be e-mailed that info. I go fishing there once or twice a year and feel so drawn to the pond. It is the most beautiful place God has created! I feel peaceful and relaxed when I visit your pond. I just don't remember where we docked our canoe. I really need your help in finding these things because I want to go there this year. Please help me.
Sincerely,
Carol Laverriere

More signs of spring: we saw a robin yesterday, and this morning as dawn was breaking, we heard a loon. Sweet!
