I hope the annual official loon count was high this morning. Yesterday (Friday July 15) we saw seven loons at one time on the pond. That is the most we've ever seen here by far.

Just a side note that the Dragonfly video on the website was filmed by my wife on our beach at Clemons Pond Memorial Day weekend. I wasn’t sure if people who watched the video could figure it out by the quick glimpse of the pond at the beginning. We have made it a ritual to travel to camp every Memorial Day weekend to witness the Dragonflies hatch!

Someone left a white and blue/green macrame folding chair at our house after the association meeting a few weeks ago.

I'm happy to drop it off once I know to whom it belongs.

Thanks - Dave Howard

Hi! We live on Clemons Cove and noticed that there seemed to be a significant amount of grasses and other vegetation growing in the pond this year... I did some research and will send some samples to the Maine Volunteer Lakes Monitoring program if it hasn't been done to ensure that it isn't the dreaded "milfoil" or other evasive species... We noticed a much larger number of boaters on the pond this spring and just want to make sure that we don't have any outside plants introduced. Can you tell me if this has already been done or if I should go ahead and do it? Thanks! We have lived on the pond for 10 years now, but this year it just seemed to be so much more "green" on the bottom!!! Also, who do I send photos to - I have some great pics from kayaking down the brook and also just enjoying the pond every day all summer!!! Lastly, thank you for all you do to help out our pond, the beautiful loons, and the dragonfly larvae.. I suppose when our kids get a little older, and our lives settle down a bit, we'll actually make it to a meeting!

Thank you to all who helped plan the "pig roast" party and to the cooks who stayed up all night to roast the pig. Thanks too to Ava and Charlie for offering the space, the people who brought such good food, the cooks for the hot dogs and hamburgers and to the clean up committee. We appreciated the day. Thanks friends! Jo

Thank you for the wonderful loon pictures. They are so beautiful!!! It is soooo exciting. Several of us watched on Thursday, July 8 through our spotting scopes and first saw the chick in the afternoon. By evening, one of the parents was nudging the chick to leave the platform and enter the water but it just wasn't ready. It approached the edge of the platform and peered into the water but did not take the plunge. It rested comfortably under the wing of the nesting parent until dark. When we resumed our surveillance Friday at the crack of dawn, it was swimming confidently around the platform and occasionally getting up onto the back of the non-nesting parent. What a gift to have one of these treasures among us! Does anyone know if any predators have taken the abandoned egg yet?
